Car shopping is a BIG DEAL. It's emotional, financial, and takes up time. Socially, others seem to judge you based on your car shopping decisions!
My husband Mike is tall and a big guy. At 6 foot 6 inches tall, he simply doesn't fit in many cars. His head digs into the roof, cars with sunroofs never fit him, his knees bash the dashboard, and sometimes there just isn't room for his legs. Once he find a car that he fits in, the test drive presents other issues. He wears size 17 shoes/boots. This means that in many cars the gas and brake pedal are simply too close together for him. The size of his feet means that sometimes his foot is covering both pedals at the same time! Yikes! Can you see why car shopping is a problem for us?
Our very first car was an old (very old!) K-car. Because I am over a foot shorter than my husband, we were constantly readjusting the seat. We broke the seat twice!
We currently own a black 2007 Pontiac G6 GT. We love this car! However, it has hit 210 000km, and at this point we thought we should invest into a car with less kilometers on it.
Pontiac is no longer made, as you are probably aware. After scouring many online sites, we test drove a number of cars! We did find one that we quite liked...a 2011 Impala LTZ, but at $22 000, it was more money than we were willing to spend.
In the end, we decided on a 2008 Pontiac G6 SE. It still has factory warranty for another 6 months, and it fits us! They are also taking our newer tires and rims from our old car and putting them on the new car for us, as well as moving the trailer hitch onto the new car.
My husband dropped our car off yesterday for them to do the transfer of tires/hitch, and we were hoping to pick up the new car on Monday, but forgot that government licensing offices will be closed for Remembrance Day.
We pick up our new car on Tuesday night. :)
